After a successful project in Cape Town, we were asked to overhaul the tired Singer offices in Johannesburg.
Built in the 1970s and in desperate need of a face lift, we started off by clearing the space completely. The re-design involved introducing fittings inspired by photographic elements such as positive-negative space; classic black and white imagery; and angular shapes reflecting an aperture lens. The acoustics and heat retention of the space were addressed with ceiling panels and the exterior was transformed with a clever use of paint.
