Connecting heart, mind & body to the experience of your space
Change Is Inevitable Growth Is Intentional
As the owner of an interior design business; combined with my personal journey as a designer; I totally understand that parts of the journey can be overwhelmingly lonely at times. The weight and responsibilities of being at the helm of various teams to manage – particularly as a start-up; can destroy your enjoyment for the craft of design, which spills over into disconnecting from your essence of being. I can further say that it’s the hard knocks and tough lessons learnt through my business that has brought me to the deepest humility in myself. So that if I was able to go back and have a conversation with my younger self, I would tell her; that the intrinsic understanding to the principles of the Game of Life; is fundamental to becoming your most successful self.
Success is subjective: but from my perspective (having lived a bit) represents flow and contentment; which only follows when you know and understand your differentiators, strengths and weaknesses. When you find this awareness and perspective about yourself, you will be able to clearly see your own value. And by leaning into these values; your decisions become easier, which will automatically create an environment in which you are able to flourish. A functioning inner-system; leads to a flourishing and functioning outer-system; providing the essential support and growth for your personal and business development; which ultimately is how success is built.
Through a natural maturation process (which we all are required to go through); I was brought to a place within myself where the desire for doing things better and differently outweighed the trodden and familiar path. It was through many business mentoring sessions that I gradually found the switch to my lightbulb moment(s); and the realisation that my greatest gifts were always there; neatly wrapped inside the feedback life was offering me all along. The gold I found within these feedback sessions was deliberately put to constructive use; and applied to every aspect of running my practice. The good the bad and the ugly – consistently; relentlessly and unwavering to the point of obsession – true to the nature of a creative creator.
Many hours, days and months were invested into asking quality questions; which lead to quality solutions for my team and I. The solutions were put to practice over the course of a year at every opportunity where life’s feedback arrived. Through an ongoing intentional drive to deliberately engineer our direction and course correct in real-time and in-practice; until our solutions offered better flow to help the team gain time; and functioned as support to build trust.
Unintentionally; through the act of intention; the Xperiencemakers process became SimpleXity, our teachable programme for mentorship and mastery. The all-encompassing interior-design-business-support-system; created to act as a living organism that is easily adaptable to ongoing change. It will create a supportive environment in which each individual is able to see into their blind spots; which will ultimately benefit the entire team (big or small) to flourish and grow: exponentially.
As with any well-designed space, we can get so single minded about creating the creation, that we more often than not fail to see or appreciate what is in front of us; until the finished product. We also understand that too much information is noise that causes overwhelm. This is why we concentrated our content into the crux of every-thing that matters; to get a project done seamlessly up to the point of the big reveal.
